Pyramid Lake Styled Shoot

Hello friendss! For those of you that don’t know, I’m currently finishing up my last semester of Photographic Technology at Nait here in Edmonton. Key word there is β€œfinishing” because your girl is EXCITED and ready to kick off this full time photography career! As part of our wedding photography class this semester we were challenged with creating a styled shoot, and being a wedding photographer already working in the industry, participating in styled shoots when i can, my heart freaking sang at the opportunity to plan one!

Keep reading to see how we created this shoot, all the incredible Edmonton wedding vendors who helped us create some magic and a full gallery of the final images!

Creating a vision

The very first thing to do when planning a styled shoot is creating a vision or idea you want to portray. For this styled wedding shoot we wanted our bride to be a little more edgy and unique. I envisioned a more vintage gown with black combat boots and I think we nailed that aspect.

Create something you’ve always wanted to, create something original. There’s TONS of styled shoots and weddings out there, so make yours…. well, YOURS!

Location

After creating our vision, next up was finding an absolutely stunning location. I wanted something new, somewhere I’ve never shot before, so we decided to take it to the mountains! Pyramid Lake in Jasper National Park stole our hearts and the frozen lake, still in the March sun was the cherry on top.

They say β€œshoot what you want to book” and that’s exactly what this location choice was all about. I want to shoot as many alberta mountain weddings these next few years as possible! Who’s trying to get married in Jasper, Alberta is 2023?!

Picking our vendors

Vendors are KEY to making any styled shoot amazing and we had some of the most incredible Edmonton Wedding Vendors helping us out with this shoot! Make sure to check all of them out if you’re getting married in the Alberta, Canada area!

Bridal Assistant

I had some incredible help bringing all the elements of this styled shoot together from Edmonton’s very first Bridal Assistant @maidforyouyeg ! She’s got tons of custom package options for those needing a little extra help on their wedding day or planning the big day. I highly suggest her services if you’re not quite looking for a whole wedding planner but need that extra leg of support!

Hair & Makeup Artist

I’m so so grateful to have some amazing Edmonton hair and makeup artists up my sleeve and for this shoot we had @sheenaraebeauty on hair and makeup. I’m always floored by her work whether it be for a bridal party, boudoir session or just a special event, she’ll have you feeling and looking your absolute best!

Floras

Our florals were done up by @budandbloom__ who is a visual artist local to Edmonton who specializes in sober florals AND cannaflorals. The florals pictured above are all done by bud and bloom And YES, they’re all real!

Rentals

Rentals were a HUGE part of this making this shoot come together and we used @specialeventrentals which seems to be the go to place in Edmonton Alberta for any kind of event rentals, they do truly have everything you’ll need!

dessert table

We were soooo lucky to be able to put together different aspects of a wedding by incorporating a dessert table to our styled shoot and these treats were a huge HIT! @cookiesandcreamyeg donated some tasty treats for us to photograph and I highly recommend checking them out for all your dessert needs!

Dress

A dress / attire (i’d say) is one of THE most imporat part of a styled shoot, what’re they going to wear? Thir underwear? *laughs at own joke * Our vintage gown came from @enchantedeverafterab

Now for the best part, ther gallery!
