This couple pulled off one of the most perfect backyard weddings here in Alberta Canada! In this blog we’re going to dive into what their full gallery looks like so you can gain some inspiration while planning your own unique backyard wedding day! Backyard weddings are some of my favourite to capture as an Alberta wedding photographer because they have such a calm and intentional vibe to them.
getting ready
This Alberta couple had their wedding at the Prairie Couture Life farm which just so happened to belong to their family. This Alberta wedding venue was the perfect venue if you’re looking for that backyard rustic wedding feel.
The bridesmaids opted for the vintage airstream on the property to get ready in, while the groom and his groomsmen enjoyed the morning in the farmhouse cabin, both of which were close enough together so as their wedding photographer, I could bounce back and forth taking wedding photos of both groups getting ready in the morning.

This rustic backyard wedding ceremony took place on a beautiful early June afternoon in Alberta with all their closest friends and family in attendance. Outdoor wedding ceremonies in Alberta can be a little bit of a gamble and you’re always crossing your fingers and your toes for perfect weather and this Edmonton couple got just that. They included vintage chairs for their parents to relax on, plus had a good friend sub in as their officiant for the day, which is something I always recommend!

Wedding Party portraits
Immediately following most Alberta wedding ceremonies I photograph as an Edmonton wedding photographer, we pop right into family photos , wedding party photos and then solo portraits of the couple together.
This group was such a joy to photograph and their personalities shone brighter than their bridesmaids dresses! If you’re looking for colourful bridesmaids dress inspiration, here you go! I’ve never seen a brighter wedding party before in all my years as a wedding photographer so this was especially unique to photograph.
This couple wanted to feel more laid back and less posed for their wedding party portraits so we spent the hour frockling around the farm, popping bottles of champagne and making this experience as fun as possible for them.
